Winnebago Lakes Council Board
The Board of Directors seeks to represent the lake system geographically and organizationally, with representatives from conservation, environmental, and recreational organizations; property owners; businesses; and University and governmental units. Advisors from governmental agencies with a vested interest in the waterways are invited as ex-officio members.
The current board (with officer titles and term year noted) includes:
Peggy Davidson (2011). Peggy is a retired UW Oshkosh journalism professor and a magazine writer for national publications who lives in a cottage overlooking Lake Butte des Morts in the Town of Oshkosh. She is especially interested in the possibility of a Lakes Education Center showcasing our lakes.
Greg Keil (2011) is the Community Planner for the City of Menasha and former staff for the Fox Valley Water Quality Agency and East Central Regional Planning Commission.
Michael Lizotte, Ph.D. (ex-officio, Executive Director) is Interim Director of Sustainability at UW-Oshkosh and former Director of the Aquatic Research Laboratory. His professional interest is scientific research in aquatic ecology, particularly algal blooms and environmental education. He also serves on the board of the Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance.
Wayne Mueller (Treasurer, 2011) is the Chief Operations Officer for Alexander and Bishop LTD, a commercial real estate development firm. His interest in a sustainable watershed stems from his work in conservation residential development in New England. He recently moved back to Oshkosh to his home on Lake Winnebago where he grew up.
Tom Nedland (2012) is an ecologist for Natural Resources Consulting. His experience includes work related to wetlands, wildlife, limnology, and habitat restoration. Tom currently resides in Appleton.
Wayne Risvold (2011) is a Senior Account Manager with AFLAC and Flotilla Commander of USCGA flotilla 04-01. He is from Fond du Lac and has a keen interest in lake issues.
Andrew Sabai (2012) is an LTE with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources working on critical habitats in the Winnebago system. He serves on the Oshkosh Sustainabiity Advisory Board.
Jan Scalpone (Secretary, 2012) is a retired planner from the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. She serves on the board of the Oshkosh Area League of Women Voters and various local and statewide conservation groups.
Dick Snyder (2009) is a semi-retired consultant to Mercury Marine after working there 42 years as an engineer. He greatly enjoys living on a bay in the Town of Black Wolf behind the Jesuit Retreat and is active nationally in recreational boating safety and accident investigation.
