Planning

A broad range of citizens representing other groups with interests in the lakes are needed to participate in strategic and collaborative planning projects. The Lakes Council has grants for two projects of this kind for 2007:

  1. Aquatic Invasive Species Planning. Citizens were recruited to serve on a Steering Committee to help develop a strategic plan for prevention and control of aquatic species in the Winnebago Pool. A core group of 15 has been meeting regularly throughout the summer. To allow addtional citizen input, five public sessions were held in September and October in various locations around the lakes. Comments from the public sessions are now being reviewed by the planning committee as it drafts the regional plan. Once the draft has been completed, the public again will have an opportunity to comment. Watch for notice of these meetings early in 2008.

Fox-Wolf Partners Network. Representatives from conservation groups, businesses, agencies and municipalities work in Resource Groups to plan and implement collaborative lake protection and improvement projects. If you are interested in participating in a Resource Group, contact us.
