Events
The Winnebago Lakes Council hosts at least four events annually, collaborates with like organizations in presenting events, and promotes events of other organizations with relationship to the lakes.
Upcoming Events
"Mysteries of the Great Lakes "
This is an award-winning Candadian film featuring sturgeon of the Winnebago system and local fish biologist Ron Bruch. It tells of the many challenges the great lakes face as they move from pristine to polluted to recovering. Originally produced for IMAX theatres, it is also a beautiful film on the small screen ( 40 minutes)
The Lakes Council featured this film at its Annual Meeting on October 13 and will be showing it in partnership with other groups on these dates. These events are open to the public.

This was the second year for this popular series. Topics included fly fishing for walleyes and seasonal movements of walleyes. Presenters were Ryan Standke, Rob Teske, Kendall Kamke, DNR Sr. Fish Biologist and Chris Gasser.

Deputy Aaron Raul of the Fond du Lac Sheriff ‘s Department talked about boater safety, boat patrols and law enforcement on Lake Winnebago. This talk followed the Lakes Council’s Annual Meeting at 6:30 p.m. The public was invited.

Walleye Fishing Workshop

Fishing guide Ryan Standke and Winnebago Lakes Council Board member Jack Brauer conducted this workshop. Experienced and novice anglers both learned tips about trolling for walleye from these two avid fishermen and each other. This was the last in a series of four workshops on walleye fishing.

This was the second annual Expo with information for homeowners about native vegetation, shoreline restoration, wildlife habitat and yard care for waterfront property. Seminars, booth, plant sale and food. Hosted by the Winnebago County Land and Water Conservation Department and co-sponsored by the Winnebago Lakes Council. Inky Youngwirth, local historian, was the featured speaker. Interesting talk, great food. About 60 people attended. This was part of the Winnebago Lakes Council's Speaker Series.
River Fishing for Walleyes

This workshop was the first in a series of four walleye fishing workshops scheduled for 2008. Presenters were fishing guide Ryan Standke and avid fisherman and Winnebago Lakes Council board member Jack Brauer. The workshop was sold out, and participants signed up for three subsequent workshops, closing them out to new participants. At the workshop, 65 new members jointed the Winnebago Lakes Council, enabling them to attend the remaining workshops free plus other events sponsored by the Winnebago Lakes Council throughout the year.
